It’s A Wonderful Dolly World

Hi My Lovely Friends,

This post is for my doll loving readers out there. I’ve done several photos of my blythe dolls, but in this post, I’ll just be showing you my favorite pics so far. I’ve played around with them a little bit in photoshop. I’ve also got a couple photos of my doll from 1995, who is a jewel rider. ^_^ I love her. She is the exact doll I had as a kid.

Anyway, so I hope you enjoy this blog post!

These first two pics are of little miss Goldie. She apparently loves Pop Rocks, Balloons, and Wiener Dogs! :3

What Has MaceyLou Been Up To?

Hello My Lovely Friends!

I just want to take a moment and thank each and every person who reads my blog, watches my videos, listens to my music, or appreciates my artwork. THANK YOU! ^_^ From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU SO MUCH! If you’re reading this right now, you mean a lot to me, and I want you to know that. Because of you, I get to write my heart out. I get to talk about the good times as well as the bad, and there is nothing that can replace that. No matter how long I go on hiatus and no matter what my URL is, the core group sticks with me on my journey. Hopefully this blog theme / template I’ve chosen will stick for a while. Hopefully my URL will finally stick for a while. I’ve gone from blogspot, to wordpress hosted, to self-hosted using wordpress…and I’ve changed URL’s even more times than that. In fact, I can’t recall how many times. I’m hoping this sticks……finally. Haha!

For the theme of this blog post, I want to talk about what I’ve been up to lately…I’ve been working on many things. First, I’ve finally gotten re-acquainted with Minecraft, and I’m loving it again. I doubt I could play it each and every day, but I’ve been playing several times a week, and it helps that I have lots of friends to play with me and help me find new ways to have fun in the game.

I play pranks…

In the screenshots above, I basically just confused everyone by flying as high as I could where they couldn’t see me. I got a chuckle out of it, as I looked down at their base like it was but a mere ant hill. Karma came back at me later, though, when someone released an Ender Dragon into the world, which destroyed my house. Lately we’ve been playing on a really fun survival server instead, which I LOVE. We found a beautiful biome, full of flowers, islands in the sky, waterfalls, and rivers.

And here’s a random pic I took of a creeper // zombie romance…I thought you all would love it. Kisses for the Creeper! XD

On to a completely different topic…

Apparently on Instagram, I am addicted to showing you guys / gals my shoes…I just realized the pattern today. I have especially mastered the “feet up on the dashboard” pose…

And I think I’ll leave you all with a very odd collage I just made. I call it “MaceyLou’s World.” I guess it represents those moments where I feel kinda weird and different from everyone else and I space out…this must be what the inside of my imagination looks like! :3 I also am guessing that me and my car race each other around a minecraft-type landscape, with a barbie house to go home to, under a strange but beautiful sky. Ah, yep, that’s what my head looks like inside it! Haha! ^__^

Well, that’s all for tonight. Goodnight, friends! Talk to you next time.

Hugs,

….-*DIY Fairy Blythe Wings Tutorial!! *-….

Hello My Lovely Friends!

So I’ve put together a little DIY Tutorial for you. This Tutorial explains how to take wire-trimmed ribbon and create fairy wings for a doll. In this case, it’s for a blythe doll, but the concept can really care over to any doll I think! So first things first:

#1}…Take the wire-trimmed ribbon of your choice. I have many colors of this stuff from years of Christmas gifts. I planned to reuse them for my own gift-giving ventures, but I was needing to create some fairy wings for a blythe doll I was working on. I was wondering how I could possibly accomplish this. Then, I remembered this ribbon! :) First, you want to twist the ribbon to create a bit of a fairy wing-like point like shown below. Use the doll’s body that you are intending it for, so you can get an idea of the proportions that you want to achieve.

photo 1

#2}…Next, do the same thing on the other end and create a twist in the center as well. This is where the body will lay on top of the wings.

photo 2

#3}…Now do a small set for the bottom half of the wings. Your wings should look similar to the picture below (but, really the possiblities are endless and you can make many different styles of these, I’m sure.):

photo 3

#4}…Now put the doll body on top to get an idea of what she might look like…

photo 1

#5}…Now, what I did was I cut near the wire-trim edge of a spare piece of the ribbon, so that I could use the scraps to attach the top and the bottom of the wings together:

 photo 2

#6}…Now, you can take that piece of wire from the ribbon (it will be the same color as your ribbon, so it will match.) ^_^ Take that wire and twist it around the top and bottom wing pieces so they can be one piece:

photo 3

#7}…Next, you will have excess wire hanging off the wings, so use this to your advantage and twist it in front of the waist of your doll like a belt. :) This will be how the wings stay put.

photo 4

YAY! Now that’s what I’m talking about!! ^.^ Below you will see two different ways to wear the wings. The first one is with the belt hidden inside the dress. On the second example, the belt is on the outside and showing. I didn’t like the way the belt inside the dress looked. It changed the shape of her dress in an awkward way, so I decided to just go with the second look, keeping the belt shown:

I have a new youtube series coming up on my YouTube channel which will show you all my custom process for my dolls. I’m currently uploading Part One as we speak. My youtube name is “maceyloubrown” in case you wanted to check those videos out! Below are some photos showing some things I’ve worked on lately, some recorded in video and some not:

Below are some new shots of my studio. ^_^ It’s finally coming along nicely. I still have some cleaning//organizing to do, which you can’t see here because I am really good with the crop tool, lol, but soon I hope to have a fully functional and practical (as well as beautiful) studio! Hope you enjoy these photos!! :)

Below is a “Lomo” wall I created by taping some instagram photos together. To print my photos from my phone, I used an app called Kicksend. My photos didn’t make it to my house at first, but I contacted the app company and they resent them quick! AND the photos look AMAZING!! Love the quality of these. ^_^

Well, goodnight my lovelies! Talk to you soon! xoxo – MaceyLou

My New Work Station! :)

Hello Friends!
So I finally arranged my desk how I like it in my studio. And I started working on a new custom video series! I didn’t like how my first custom video turned out, even though I got a lot of positive feedback on it. So, I’m starting a new one…all showing the custom process of one doll. :) In the filming process, I learned that the lighting conditions were not good at my desk area. So, after filming part 1 (the NEW part one lol), I decided to turn my desk around, facing the opposite direction. And I got giddy!! I don’t know why, but my new work area is making me SUPER excited and motivated to work!! Enjoy the pics!

Hello Friends!

So this past weekend I finally got some work done!! Yay!! :) I was super excited, considering everything’s been pretty hectic and crazy, AND I’ve had an overabundant amount of lazy in me lately. I finally got a LOT done, and in one weekend…

It all began in my studio…below is a view outside of my studio window:

photo 1

The studio is in need of cleaning and organizing, as per usual…lol…

photo 4

I love those trees out there. They are really beautiful. The other window not pictured only has a view of my front lawn and the neighborhood.

So, I’m super behind on a dolly that I’ve been creating for my niece, Caitlin. Meant to be a Christmas gift for her, but lots of things came up, including buying and moving into our house, but I still feel like it’s a bad excuse. I mean, if I had just started working on her earlier…but anyway, so below is the WIP (work in progress) pic of her dress. No pattern used. I pinned the fabrics and pieces to the doll body, designing her dress as I went. Using patterns has always irritated me for some reason. I guess I love complete freedom, and granted: there is a lot of freedom with patterns, you can edit them, rearrange them, and add to them in various ways, but I like combining the design process with the cutting, pinning, and sewing process. It holds my interest longer that way and inspires me more, too.

photo 2

Below is the dress in the front middle with my pin tomato, as well as my new unnamed EBL girl and my uncustomized translucent dark-haired beauty: I’m thinking of making the latter into a little vampire or cat girl. Not sure which yet…

photo 3

photo 5

Then, once her face was sealed, lips were glossed, and dress was done, this is what she currently looks like (she still needs her eyelids done, so her eyes are not ready to be put in her faceplate just yet…):

And, the last pic for you all tonight is a group shot of all the dolls currently in the Kitten Carousel Dollies studio. The only one NOT pictured below is Caitlin’s doll we just saw above, since she isn’t able to stand at the moment. Haha.

Goodnight and be well, my friends and pals!! xoxo – Macey

Wednesday! : Blythe Couch Progress

Hi My Lovelies!!

Sorry I’m been MIA lately. I’ve been working around the house, cleaning, rearranging furniture, as well as working on a little couch for my blythe doll.

I saw a cute modern couch on the internet which was very boxy and straight edges. It was also a solid color. I decided to mimic the design, but instead of a solid color, I’m using a blue plaid fabric (from an old button up shirt my husband had). I think it’s going great. I sewed the main pieces so far, and slipped them over the rectangular foam pieces I had.

I still need to attach all the pieces together, and I think I will use a glue gun. I’m not sure though, because I worry about the fabric not sticking well. I also still need to give the sofa a base, legs, and pillows.

  • Couch {pieces not attached yet}

  • Above is Koral on the couch so you can see the scale.

Let me know what you all think. :)

Until next time, readers, HEARTS & STARS!

Adventurous Friday #4: Sort of…

Hello My Lovely Starfishes!!

I’m sorry to say there will not be an adventure today, mostly because it’s rainy and yucky outside. I can’t think of much to do as an “adventure” that’s worth blogging about that I could go on tonight. However, I am going to tell you what I did today:

  1. Worked, worked, worked some more…
  2. & went to Hobby Lobby

Why did I go to Hobby Lobby? I bought me some red tulle fabric for only 31 cents! 31 cents! There isn’t much in this world that’s under 50 cents, much less as low as 31 cents. Total came out to 34 cents with tax added in. It’s not a ton of tulle, but since I’ll be using it for a doll outfit, it’s more than plenty!

I guess I didn’t mention to you guys that I’m obsessed with Blythe dolls…

Well, I am. I can’t help it. They’re so cute, and I absolutely love almost all things cute. Notice I said “almost” all. Some things are too cutesy girly that they make me wanna puke, but now I’m going off on a tangent. For the most part, though, I love all things cute. Hello Kitty is another thing I adore. I mean, I don’t have Hello Kitty posters plastered on my walls, but I do enjoy Hello Kitty and I have since I was little.

Blythe dolls, however, are another creature entirely. I knew NOTHING about them when I was a kid. The originals were produced in 1972 by Kenner in USA and only out for about a year before they were discontinued. Kids were terrified of either their huge heads or their huge eyes. However, Gina Garan, took photos of them and brought them back “in style” so to speak and they began being produced again, this time, by Takara (a toy company). That was back in 2000 or 2001 (not sure). Well, that’s a rough history. Sorry, I don’t know why I spat all that out, but yeah.

Anyway, my point is Blythe dolls are beloved by women and girls, both. Actually I’ve seen more women between the ages of 20 and 50 have the dolls than little girls. This is probably because of their price and the fact that they can be customized majorly and then resold if the owner wishes. That’s one of the things I love most about them: the creativity. You can either keep them regular (with stock make-up and not customize them) or you can customize them. We’re talking carving of the face, doing new make-up, changing eye-chip colors, hair colors, making clothing for them, making miniature items and accessories for them, and the list goes on and on and on.

For more information:

I would post a photo, but I don’t want to use someone’s photo without permission, and I’m still waiting on my blythe doll to come in the mail. :)

Hearts & Stars,

MaceyLou
