My Shop is Finally Open!

Hi My Lovely Starfishies!!

My little storenvy shop is finally open and you can purchase away! I’ve got vampire stickers, pastel goth stickers, hipster stickers, and many more kawaii cute oozing with sugary sweetness, products! I tried my best to create characters that would be as diverse as the lovely people like you all that enjoy my artwork and other creations. ^_^ I’m already starting some new sketches for future sticker ideas, too. I have a couple dolls that are not available yet, but should be at some point. (Not sure when just yet.) I’m sorry. I know you all may have been waiting for the dolls, but the stickers are much easier to get ready for shipping and stocking into the shop as well as putting all of their information on the website.

SHEETS PIC2

As you can see, above I offer sticker sheets for your stationary needs. You can stick these on your letters to your pen pals, you can stick them on your favorite notebook or sketchbook, or simply save them as collectibles.

Also, my friend Jen Lawson helped me design the Rapunzel character and the red headed girl. She did a lovely job on Rapunzel’s hair, especially.

The other stickers especially made to be car decals. I have a couple of them on my car right now, actually, and they’ve been holding up awesomely! :)

SET 1___VAMP Girl___LARGE__pic1

Most of the car decals come with a premask you can see above and below. The premask helps aid you in applying the decal to your car window. All you have to do is pull the backing off the back of the sticker, stick it where you want it to be positioned, and pull of the top layer — the premask! Easy-peasy.

PREMASK PHOTO

Above you can see where the backing comes off easily when there’s a premask on the front. Then you can stick the back of the sticker directly where it needs to go, and pull the premask right off after that! :) I LOVE these!

Here are a few more examples of stickers in the shop currently, but there are several more! Better hurry before they sell out!!

SET 1___CAT Girl___MED__pic1 SET 1___HIPSTER Girl___MED__pic1 SET 1___Rapunzel Girl___LARGE___pic1

As you can see, a few do not have a premask. These are for people who would rather just have the backing only. Those are for people who either plan to never stick the sticker and just want it for collecting or if they are really good at placement without premask.

In other news, a few weeks ago I posted my Frequently Asked Questions video on YouTube. Check it out below if you would like to see it:

Thanks so much for watching and I hope you all have a lovely sweet day!! <3

What Has MaceyLou Been Up To?

Hello My Lovely Friends!

I just want to take a moment and thank each and every person who reads my blog, watches my videos, listens to my music, or appreciates my artwork. THANK YOU! ^_^ From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU SO MUCH! If you’re reading this right now, you mean a lot to me, and I want you to know that. Because of you, I get to write my heart out. I get to talk about the good times as well as the bad, and there is nothing that can replace that. No matter how long I go on hiatus and no matter what my URL is, the core group sticks with me on my journey. Hopefully this blog theme / template I’ve chosen will stick for a while. Hopefully my URL will finally stick for a while. I’ve gone from blogspot, to wordpress hosted, to self-hosted using wordpress…and I’ve changed URL’s even more times than that. In fact, I can’t recall how many times. I’m hoping this sticks……finally. Haha!

MaceyLouMintGreenKittySkin

For the theme of this blog post, I want to talk about what I’ve been up to lately…I’ve been working on many things. First, I’ve finally gotten re-acquainted with Minecraft, and I’m loving it again. I doubt I could play it each and every day, but I’ve been playing several times a week, and it helps that I have lots of friends to play with me and help me find new ways to have fun in the game.

I play pranks…

minecraft google hangout 2

In the screenshots above, I basically just confused everyone by flying as high as I could where they couldn’t see me. I got a chuckle out of it, as I looked down at their base like it was but a mere ant hill. Karma came back at me later, though, when someone released an Ender Dragon into the world, which destroyed my house. Lately we’ve been playing on a really fun survival server instead, which I LOVE. We found a beautiful biome, full of flowers, islands in the sky, waterfalls, and rivers.

pretty biome

And here’s a random pic I took of a creeper // zombie romance…I thought you all would love it. Kisses for the Creeper! XD

romance slide

On to a completely different topic…

Apparently on Instagram, I am addicted to showing you guys / gals my shoes…I just realized the pattern today. I have especially mastered the “feet up on the dashboard” pose…

shoes comparison

And I think I’ll leave you all with a very odd collage I just made. I call it “MaceyLou’s World.” I guess it represents those moments where I feel kinda weird and different from everyone else and I space out…this must be what the inside of my imagination looks like! :3 I also am guessing that me and my car race each other around a minecraft-type landscape, with a barbie house to go home to, under a strange but beautiful sky. Ah, yep, that’s what my head looks like inside it! Haha! ^__^

Macey's World

Well, that’s all for tonight. Goodnight, friends! Talk to you next time.

Hugs,

MaceyLou

My In-Depth Musician Interview with Jake Mooneyham

Jake Mooneyham the Musician

Hello Readers!

I have a very special treat for you all today. I’ve done an in-depth interview with my brother, Jake Mooneyham, who is the artist behind Trapper Capper, as well as a band member of Monostatic and The Vintage Season. He’s given us an inside look at what it means to be a student, a musician, and a human trying to survive. This interview was really fun to conduct and he’s so very forthcoming about all he does in his day-to-day life and what it means to juggle work, school, and the art of trying to get into the music biz. I’d love to hear some feedback from you guys and gals, letting me know what you thought of the interview and maybe any insights you may have about the music industry in general. As always you can just leave a reply in the comments below. Thanks so much! Now, on to the interview!

Do you remember the first moment you decided you had a passion for creating music? “Probably when me and Zach were at Mom and Dad’s house and he had the Casio keyboard and he had his drum sounds loaded into the keyboard. I was playing an electric guitar, trying to come up with riffs and stuff like that. We actually ended up with a goofy little song. It was pretty cool, though, and insanely simple. Even that was enough to hook me. It was a lot of fun.”

What/who are your biggest influences in the industry? “You know one of them. Haha. Jack White, of course. His music is what made me interested in trying to make music in the first place. Before I listened to his work, I played around with teaching myself guitar, but never had a full direction I was going. Right now, I really like Tame Impala for their psychedelic rock, yet they are also sort of in the EDM realm now, with their infectious grooves.”

You’ve been going to school for music for a little over a month now. What is the biggest thing you’ve learned so far? “I think Einstein said, ‘As our circle of knowledge expands, so does the circumference of darkness surrounding it.‘ The more you learn, the more you realize you don’t know. Even though I’m hitting the ground running with theory, I still realize I am a fumbling amateur. The main thing I’ve learned is I still have far to go.”

What genre // type of music are you most interested in creating right now? “That’s tough to say. I’ve been asking myself the same question. This goes back to when that band asked me to open for them and canceled. When I thought I was going to play live, I had a plan of how I was going to perform, using live instrumentation and DJ equipment, too, so I could launch different bass lines on that while playing guitar at the same time (uses wild hand gestures). I think it would be a fusion of rock and the wild dance music that’s going on right now. I thought of working on a whole EDM thing, but at the same time I really like playing guitar. I would also like to take some vocal lessons, to get better at that as well. Playing with a band is so much more athletic, though, too, because you all sync up with each other and it is less lonely. It’s a tough call, and it’s still up in the air right now.”

Where can we find songs that you have had a part in creating? “There are three groups you would want to search for on bandcamp: The Vintage Season, Monostatic, and Trapper Capper. The Vintage Season, as my interviewer knows, is the band my brother-in-law, my sister, myself, and our friend Zach play in. Monostatic is just me and Zach, while Trapper Capper is me doing my own thing kind of in the genre of EDM, or maybe trance music. It’s mostly me experimenting and learning as I go. My song “You Live and You Lie”, I feel could be improved and I will probably re-record it, but that’s far off for now. I’d like to record it in less of a sample-based way. I’d really love to make sure I do a version that has mostly live instrumentation. Maybe if I meet up with someone at school or with you, Zach, or Derek. I just want to make sure I don’t just focus on painting music on a grid for that song. I just want to make that song with actual live instruments.”

How much time do you think you spend on music per week? “[goofy laugh] Counting class? Okay, take 168 hours in a week minus 30 (my work hours), so now we have 138. Minus that by 28 (which is 4 hrs x 7 days for how much I sleep), then I’ll roughly subtract some time for doing everyday tasks and keeping in touch with people via my cell phone…I’d say I spend about 70 hours a week on music, that’s including classes, music homework, and my own music exploration.”

What are your goals in the future as of right now for music and its roll in your life? “Well, there are ideal goals, and there are practical goals. There’s what I want to happen, and there is what I will do in the meantime to survive. So, I’ll be going to school for now to learn how to teach music theory to maybe high school kids or at a community college. Of course the IDEAL goal would be to be a working musician and making money creating music. With that, there are several different levels — from making commercial jingles all the way up to being a rock star.”

Have you made some valuable connections while in school? “I’ve gotten to know a couple people. I’ve met a guy named Bo. I watched him at the Guitar Center drum-off the other day, which was awesome, and he made it to the store finals. I’ll be watching that this coming Tuesday. There’s another student who is a really good guitarist. His name is Tanner. I don’t know him that well yet, but he is a really talented guy. I also thought about studying abroad. There are so many countries to choose from. And the school program would pay for half of it. I think my conductor for the guitar ensemble is going to Brazil. He’s a really cool guy. He’s a wild-eyed crazy music nut. I think he may have perfect pitch. He seems like he has his head wrapped around music really well, too.”

What advice would you give other aspiring musicians? [laughs] “Go to school? I think a lot of musicians fall into a self-constructed trap of saying, ‘I don’t need to learn how to read music.’ Take it from someone who is just now starting music classes at school. I know I am learning as I go, but I have already learned a lot being at this school. I think a lot of people are afraid that learning the official established music technique is going to take away their individuality or some stupid nonsense like that. You’ve got to learn from the greats to really get going, and there is nothing wrong with learning from others. In fact it’s important to do so.”

What improvements do you hope to make involving your different skill sets? “I want to know the letter name of the note I’m playing at all times. When you’re on a piano, it’s more automatic, because of how it’s laid out. I want that with a fret board like I do with a keyboard. I want to immediately know all the time. I want to get better at keyboard and singing. I would love if I could have absolute pitch some day. If I heard a tone, I’d love to be able to tell you exactly what pitch it is without a reference point. I don’t know if it’s something people just have, or if you just have to train yourself up to it. It would be so much easier to dictate music, though, if I had that skill. I also need to get better at sight-reading. I know how, but I’m still very very slow at the moment.”

In the past, you’ve been involved in making movies and short films. Do you still have a passion for that as well? “I’m really glad you asked that. I actually just wrote a paper about shooting a movie with Jeff, called The Compassionate, and how horrible the filming went. [laughs] But I LOVE movie-making and film. There’s so much emotion and you can create an entire moment, but it’s a HUGE project anytime you want to do a short film or anything like that. With music, you can do anything you want with pretty much no limit. Any musician can do WHATEVER they want on their own. With movies that’s not necessarily true in the same sense, unless you have skills in animation. I love movies and music-making, but movies are less feasible for me, and I do think I have a bit more of a passion for music anyway. Music affects me more than anything else. It effects me in a multitude of ways, and I love just picking it apart, in all of its pieces. I’ll play a song several times in a row just to listen to every little part, and study it. It’s cool because of all the senses that are specific, hearing is specific but abstract. Sound is all about these vibrations traveling through the air and all these different frequencies. It’s like magic.”

If so, what do you think you’ll do in the future to satisfy that passion of movie-making? “Music videos are always an option. When I create a song, I’m always like, ‘what could this look like.’ Music videos are fun, and a great way to make people pay attention to your music. It’s a way to get visual and to also advertise. I do like to also write scripts sometimes. I’d like to make movies. It would be in the future, when I had more time and money.”

Thanks so much, girls and guys, for reading my interview with Jake! I hope you all enjoyed it and maybe received some inspiration? :)

If that wasn’t enough, I’ve got some FREE SONG DOWNLOADS for you! Check out:

This first one by Monostatic is FREE and is a cover of a song written by Roky Erickson, originally performed by the 13th Floor Elevators. The second one by Trapper Capper [Jake Mooneyham] is free as well, but we would greatly appreciate your support of even just a small amount of money for the song. No obligation to pay for it by any means, but I’m sure he would greatly greatly appreciate it!

….-*DIY Fairy Blythe Wings Tutorial!! *-….

Hello My Lovely Friends!

So I’ve put together a little DIY Tutorial for you. This Tutorial explains how to take wire-trimmed ribbon and create fairy wings for a doll. In this case, it’s for a blythe doll, but the concept can really care over to any doll I think! So first things first:

#1}…Take the wire-trimmed ribbon of your choice. I have many colors of this stuff from years of Christmas gifts. I planned to reuse them for my own gift-giving ventures, but I was needing to create some fairy wings for a blythe doll I was working on. I was wondering how I could possibly accomplish this. Then, I remembered this ribbon! :) First, you want to twist the ribbon to create a bit of a fairy wing-like point like shown below. Use the doll’s body that you are intending it for, so you can get an idea of the proportions that you want to achieve.

photo 1

#2}…Next, do the same thing on the other end and create a twist in the center as well. This is where the body will lay on top of the wings.

photo 2

#3}…Now do a small set for the bottom half of the wings. Your wings should look similar to the picture below (but, really the possiblities are endless and you can make many different styles of these, I’m sure.):

photo 3

#4}…Now put the doll body on top to get an idea of what she might look like…

photo 1

#5}…Now, what I did was I cut near the wire-trim edge of a spare piece of the ribbon, so that I could use the scraps to attach the top and the bottom of the wings together:

 photo 2

#6}…Now, you can take that piece of wire from the ribbon (it will be the same color as your ribbon, so it will match.) ^_^ Take that wire and twist it around the top and bottom wing pieces so they can be one piece:

photo 3

#7}…Next, you will have excess wire hanging off the wings, so use this to your advantage and twist it in front of the waist of your doll like a belt. :) This will be how the wings stay put.

photo 4

YAY! Now that’s what I’m talking about!! ^.^ Below you will see two different ways to wear the wings. The first one is with the belt hidden inside the dress. On the second example, the belt is on the outside and showing. I didn’t like the way the belt inside the dress looked. It changed the shape of her dress in an awkward way, so I decided to just go with the second look, keeping the belt shown:

I have a new youtube series coming up on my YouTube channel which will show you all my custom process for my dolls. I’m currently uploading Part One as we speak. My youtube name is “maceyloubrown” in case you wanted to check those videos out! Below are some photos showing some things I’ve worked on lately, some recorded in video and some not:

Below are some new shots of my studio. ^_^ It’s finally coming along nicely. I still have some cleaning//organizing to do, which you can’t see here because I am really good with the crop tool, lol, but soon I hope to have a fully functional and practical (as well as beautiful) studio! Hope you enjoy these photos!! :)

Below is a “Lomo” wall I created by taping some instagram photos together. To print my photos from my phone, I used an app called Kicksend. My photos didn’t make it to my house at first, but I contacted the app company and they resent them quick! AND the photos look AMAZING!! Love the quality of these. ^_^

My New Work Station! :)

Hello Friends!
So I finally arranged my desk how I like it in my studio. And I started working on a new custom video series! I didn’t like how my first custom video turned out, even though I got a lot of positive feedback on it. So, I’m starting a new one…all showing the custom process of one doll. :) In the filming process, I learned that the lighting conditions were not good at my desk area. So, after filming part 1 (the NEW part one lol), I decided to turn my desk around, facing the opposite direction. And I got giddy!! I don’t know why, but my new work area is making me SUPER excited and motivated to work!! Enjoy the pics!

♥ ☆ .• Our New Home! ☆ .• ♥

Hello Lovely Friendzies!

So, on December 13th, we closed on a house!! It’s an exciting time! But you know what wasn’t an exciting time?…the moving part…but that’s over now, and it’s time to get things organized! It’s also time for a little home-warming inspiration! I’ve been pinning and pinning away on pinterest, which as we all know, means that I’ve been sitting on my toosh not doing a thing in the minutes (*cough* HOURS) that I’ve been pinning. So I thought today, I’d start to tackle my studio. Well, the kitchen is pretty much done, except a bit of clutter left on the far end of the counter, so I’m happy with the cleanliness of that room so far. The living room is like 90% complete when it comes to things being put away. There are only one medium sized box and a small box left, as well as the Christmas tree to be put away. But I’ll show you a sneak peek of the living room later in this post.

First, let’s talk about my studio. It needs a LOT of work! I have lots of nice built-ins, shelves, desks, and even a closet! I have no excuse not to find room for all this stuff! I must focus on deciding what will be housed where…

Studio Clutter to be Cleaned and Organized soon

I have a place for my sewing machine, but I haven’t moved the pull-out shelf yet.

Sewing Machine and pullout shelves

There’s a really pretty light fixture in this room: a floral light fixture fan. I usually hate fans and the light fixtures that accompany them (but LOVE them in the summer heat. haha), but this one I think I like as is for now.

floral light fixture fan

Then there’s the barbie dollhouse. The barbie dollhouse I grew up playing dolls with. My mom found it, and took it out of storage for me about a year ago or so. Maybe 2 years ago now. Trying to decide if I should paint such a sentimental piece, or keep it exactly as it is. I’ve seen what people with the right skills can do by painting a dollhouse exactly like this one, but not sure if I should…thoughts?

Barbie House

On to the living room! I’m only showing you a small part of it for now…gotta keep you in suspense. (Haha, you can actually see additional photos on my instagram page. Just search for: maceyloubrown).

This first photo is of one of the two built-in cabinets in our living room. I definitely want to paint it at some point. Haven’t decided on the color yet, but it will most likely be a light one.

cabinet full of cute things such as a little kiddles lunch box filled with crayons, a blythe doll with big eyes, and pretty books

And below is one of the many pretty fake candles my mom got me for Christmas this past year. (She also got me some exterior Christmas lights and mini candles, too!) These things actually flicker! :)

fake candle that flickers like a real one

On to the dining room…I love our placemats. It’s too bad we are one short though. Got them at Pier 1 for a steal! I think they were 50 cents or 25 cents each a few years back!

Cute Cup With Floral Design WHITE

Oh, and no Macey-fide anything would be complete without something to do with macaroons! Yes, I have a baking book just on how to make different flavors of macaroons!

And here’s my hubby, Derek, who decided this was the best and laziest way to socialize (his words, not mine) on his various social networks:

Goodnight everyone! Sleep tight! Don’t let the ladybugs bite! (Did I mention our house is home to lots of ladybugs? haha)

+*Mystery, Intrigue, & A New Video!*+

Hello Lovely Stars!

In case you missed it, I uploaded this new video:

I also uploaded an origami crane tutorial video & a baby lips review video. So check them out when you have time, but wait…don’t forget to finish this blog post! XD

I wanted to talk with you all today about mysterious things, or as Coffey Chat’s Shannon Coffey likes to say…”Mister-y.” If you watch her videos, you know how to say that properly. I’ve gone on what I like to call a tangent…

Anyway, so mystery and intrigue…we all love it, want more of it, and try so hard to get it, right? You may be saying, “No, what are you talking about, MaceyLou??? I am completely confused!” Don’t fret about it. You may not even realize you crave mysterious things. I’ll shed some light on the subject first before I get into the meat of the conversation. Answer the following questions:

  1. When you were a tiny little one, did you get curious about a lot of different things? {yes or no}
  2. Have you ever eves-dropped on anyone? {yes or no}
  3. Do you like the idea of having a secret door or compartment in your future dream house? {yes or no}
  4. Have you ever gossiped with anyone, EVER? {yes or no}
  5. Do you enjoy reading mystery novels//thrillers or have you ever enjoyed reading them in the past? {yes or no}

If you answered “yes” to any or all of the above questions, than AH HA! I told you that you secretly desire mysterious things!

Now, on to the meat of the conversation…

Mysterious things draw us in, but they leave us wanting more. Not just mystery novels // thrillers do this. Mostly every good book does this. They pull you in, keeping you wanting to read, just so you can find out what might happen next. There is this curiosity inside each of us {I hope I’m not the only one…} that makes us this way. We want to learn more. We want to be in the know about things. We also don’t want to feel left out.

This is also how T.V. shows real us in. They keep certain details and facts from us until the last minute or the last episode in the series, when they finally spill. They’ve got to keep us on our toes. I may have mentioned this in the past, but I’ve been trying to write a novel. I haven’t worked on it in months. It can be very difficult to keep that “mystery” thread running throughout a story. A story is best if it constantly makes the reader ask questions and want to find out more, keeping him or her reading and reading, until finally they finish the book.

I’m finding it difficult to keep the mysterious ambiance going.

Are any of you writers? Do you have creative blocks like this? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading!!

Dollies, Clothes, & Craft Tutorials…Oh My!

Dollies Clothes Crafts oh my header

Hello Friends,

It’s been far too long since we’ve spoken. I’m sure some of you have left this blog behind, never to think of it again, and that’s fine. It’s my fault for not bringing you fresh content any longer, but that’s about to change.

Me in Kitty bear hat

I’m happy to announce that I will be doing  regular YouTube channel videos as well as regular blog posts right here on “Macey’s Misadventures.” I’ve really missed it, and the only reason I stopped was because there was a lack of time and inability to devote what little I had of it to this blog. In short, I’m back. :)

I'm back

I just want to introduce the new goodies I’ll be serving up, fresh, for you. I will be regularly updating my blog with the details I feel some of you may desire to read about. I’ll also be posting regular videos on YouTube, ranging from dolly videos, to crafting tutorials, to clothing and beauty hauls. All of this is for your entertainment and enjoyment.
