….-*DIY Fairy Blythe Wings Tutorial!! *-….

Hello My Lovely Friends!

So I’ve put together a little DIY Tutorial for you. This Tutorial explains how to take wire-trimmed ribbon and create fairy wings for a doll. In this case, it’s for a blythe doll, but the concept can really care over to any doll I think! So first things first:

#1}…Take the wire-trimmed ribbon of your choice. I have many colors of this stuff from years of Christmas gifts. I planned to reuse them for my own gift-giving ventures, but I was needing to create some fairy wings for a blythe doll I was working on. I was wondering how I could possibly accomplish this. Then, I remembered this ribbon! :) First, you want to twist the ribbon to create a bit of a fairy wing-like point like shown below. Use the doll’s body that you are intending it for, so you can get an idea of the proportions that you want to achieve.

photo 1

#2}…Next, do the same thing on the other end and create a twist in the center as well. This is where the body will lay on top of the wings.

photo 2

#3}…Now do a small set for the bottom half of the wings. Your wings should look similar to the picture below (but, really the possiblities are endless and you can make many different styles of these, I’m sure.):

photo 3

#4}…Now put the doll body on top to get an idea of what she might look like…

photo 1

#5}…Now, what I did was I cut near the wire-trim edge of a spare piece of the ribbon, so that I could use the scraps to attach the top and the bottom of the wings together:

 photo 2

#6}…Now, you can take that piece of wire from the ribbon (it will be the same color as your ribbon, so it will match.) ^_^ Take that wire and twist it around the top and bottom wing pieces so they can be one piece:

photo 3

#7}…Next, you will have excess wire hanging off the wings, so use this to your advantage and twist it in front of the waist of your doll like a belt. :) This will be how the wings stay put.

photo 4

YAY! Now that’s what I’m talking about!! ^.^ Below you will see two different ways to wear the wings. The first one is with the belt hidden inside the dress. On the second example, the belt is on the outside and showing. I didn’t like the way the belt inside the dress looked. It changed the shape of her dress in an awkward way, so I decided to just go with the second look, keeping the belt shown:

I have a new youtube series coming up on my YouTube channel which will show you all my custom process for my dolls. I’m currently uploading Part One as we speak. My youtube name is “maceyloubrown” in case you wanted to check those videos out! Below are some photos showing some things I’ve worked on lately, some recorded in video and some not:

Below are some new shots of my studio. ^_^ It’s finally coming along nicely. I still have some cleaning//organizing to do, which you can’t see here because I am really good with the crop tool, lol, but soon I hope to have a fully functional and practical (as well as beautiful) studio! Hope you enjoy these photos!! :)

Below is a “Lomo” wall I created by taping some instagram photos together. To print my photos from my phone, I used an app called Kicksend. My photos didn’t make it to my house at first, but I contacted the app company and they resent them quick! AND the photos look AMAZING!! Love the quality of these. ^_^

Well, goodnight my lovelies! Talk to you soon! xoxo – MaceyLou

My New Work Station! :)

Hello Friends!
So I finally arranged my desk how I like it in my studio. And I started working on a new custom video series! I didn’t like how my first custom video turned out, even though I got a lot of positive feedback on it. So, I’m starting a new one…all showing the custom process of one doll. :) In the filming process, I learned that the lighting conditions were not good at my desk area. So, after filming part 1 (the NEW part one lol), I decided to turn my desk around, facing the opposite direction. And I got giddy!! I don’t know why, but my new work area is making me SUPER excited and motivated to work!! Enjoy the pics!

Hello Friends!

So this past weekend I finally got some work done!! Yay!! :) I was super excited, considering everything’s been pretty hectic and crazy, AND I’ve had an overabundant amount of lazy in me lately. I finally got a LOT done, and in one weekend…

It all began in my studio…below is a view outside of my studio window:

photo 1

The studio is in need of cleaning and organizing, as per usual…lol…

photo 4

I love those trees out there. They are really beautiful. The other window not pictured only has a view of my front lawn and the neighborhood.

So, I’m super behind on a dolly that I’ve been creating for my niece, Caitlin. Meant to be a Christmas gift for her, but lots of things came up, including buying and moving into our house, but I still feel like it’s a bad excuse. I mean, if I had just started working on her earlier…but anyway, so below is the WIP (work in progress) pic of her dress. No pattern used. I pinned the fabrics and pieces to the doll body, designing her dress as I went. Using patterns has always irritated me for some reason. I guess I love complete freedom, and granted: there is a lot of freedom with patterns, you can edit them, rearrange them, and add to them in various ways, but I like combining the design process with the cutting, pinning, and sewing process. It holds my interest longer that way and inspires me more, too.

photo 2

Below is the dress in the front middle with my pin tomato, as well as my new unnamed EBL girl and my uncustomized translucent dark-haired beauty: I’m thinking of making the latter into a little vampire or cat girl. Not sure which yet…

photo 5

Then, once her face was sealed, lips were glossed, and dress was done, this is what she currently looks like (she still needs her eyelids done, so her eyes are not ready to be put in her faceplate just yet…):

And, the last pic for you all tonight is a group shot of all the dolls currently in the Kitten Carousel Dollies studio. The only one NOT pictured below is Caitlin’s doll we just saw above, since she isn’t able to stand at the moment. Haha.

Goodnight and be well, my friends and pals!! xoxo – Macey

Dollies, Clothes, & Craft Tutorials…Oh My!

Dollies Clothes Crafts oh my header

Hello Friends,

It’s been far too long since we’ve spoken. I’m sure some of you have left this blog behind, never to think of it again, and that’s fine. It’s my fault for not bringing you fresh content any longer, but that’s about to change.

Me in Kitty bear hat

I’m happy to announce that I will be doing  regular YouTube channel videos as well as regular blog posts right here on “Macey’s Misadventures.” I’ve really missed it, and the only reason I stopped was because there was a lack of time and inability to devote what little I had of it to this blog. In short, I’m back. :)

I'm back

I just want to introduce the new goodies I’ll be serving up, fresh, for you. I will be regularly updating my blog with the details I feel some of you may desire to read about. I’ll also be posting regular videos on YouTube, ranging from dolly videos, to crafting tutorials, to clothing and beauty hauls. All of this is for your entertainment and enjoyment.

Your feedback will be critically important for the next few weeks, months, and hopefully for years to come! Let me know if you enjoy my videos or if you have any criticism and/or advice on how to improve the quality of your experience.

Thanks so much friends & dolly pals alike!

Snowy Scene Decoration Tutorial: for Your Shelf or Coffee Table

Hello my lovelies!

I decided to post a quick and easy tutorial for you all. I got the idea from all the mason jar snow globes and such floating around on Pinterest lately. I have had the materials for a while, except the actual jars, so I decided to finally try out this DIY.

12-2-12_step_112-2-12_step_212-2-12_step_3

#1} First, you will need some teeny miniature trees (mine are around 4 inches tall).

#2} Next, you will need some miniature deer (mine are around 2 inches tall). I untied the strings and took them off the deer.

#3} Thirdly, You will need some sort of container, whether it be a rectangular vase like mine here or it could be a jar, anything you can easily see the scene through. (My vase is around 6 inches tall.)

12-2-12_step_412-2-12_step_512-2-12_step_6

#4} Then, you will need some sort of fake snow. The type you use is really up to you. I have purchased Buffalo Snow Flakes – “Iridescent Sprinkles”…It is very sparkly and not the most realistic snow, but I liked it.

#5} Next, pour some of the fake snow in your container. I only filled it up to about an inch or less, enough to conceal the bases of the trees.

#6} After you place and arrange your trees and the deer, you’re all done! Yay! Now all that’s left to do is find out where you want to display it. I have mine on my work desk for now, to keep the area festive.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Let me know what you think! I’m glad I’m finally making use of a wonderful pin that I’ve pinned on Pinterest. It feels great to accomplish one of the DIYs that can be found there. What do you think, my lovelies?

Wednesday! : Blythe Couch Progress

Hi My Lovelies!!

Sorry I’m been MIA lately. I’ve been working around the house, cleaning, rearranging furniture, as well as working on a little couch for my blythe doll.

I saw a cute modern couch on the internet which was very boxy and straight edges. It was also a solid color. I decided to mimic the design, but instead of a solid color, I’m using a blue plaid fabric (from an old button up shirt my husband had). I think it’s going great. I sewed the main pieces so far, and slipped them over the rectangular foam pieces I had.

I still need to attach all the pieces together, and I think I will use a glue gun. I’m not sure though, because I worry about the fabric not sticking well. I also still need to give the sofa a base, legs, and pillows.

  • Couch {pieces not attached yet}

  • Above is Koral on the couch so you can see the scale.

Let me know what you all think. :)

Until next time, readers, HEARTS & STARS!

Monday & Tuesday #3 {Hybrid Post: Pins + Tutorial}

Hi My Lovely Star Fishies!

I took an extra day off! I know. Shame on me. But hey, I only got one day off (the 4th) from real world work…Well, I’m back now, and this post is a hybrid Pin + Tutorial post. Latest pins below:

My page contains my pins and will contain all credits for images so you can see where they came from and find out all about them! :)

http://pinterest.com/maceylou/

TUTORIAL:

I know most people by now probably already know how to do this, but this is going be my tutorial. Hopefully it will be helpful to someone. The tutorial will be me showing you how to pin something from an outside website to pinterest

1. First, I’m guessing you are already signed up on the Pinterest site.

2. Go to the top drop-down menu and pick the link shown below:

3. Next, you put the button in your bookmark bar.

4. Then, visit one of your favorite sites and if you find an image you have to save and look at later or share with the world. I chose for the tutorial, an image from my blog as an example:

5. Then, go to that pin it button that you have on your bookmark bar…

6. Next, you will see a block-like layout with a sort of “catalogue” of photos/images you can choose to pin…unless there is only one image on the page. {There will be a “pin it” button link overlaying the image when you roll-over it.}

7. Click the image you want to pin. It will show you a little dialogue box like in the screenshot below. You can name it whatever you like and choose a category above it. If you want to share it on twitter as well, you have that option, too, if you signed up/linked your twitter with Pinterest.

That’s about it! I hope you enjoyed this hybrid post! Thanks followers and likers! Feel free to leave me feedback. :)

MaceyLou

Tutorial Tuesday #2: When Cookie Cups Don’t Work

Hi My Lovely Starfishy Friend-pies,

I saw a picture on Pinterest showing chocolate chip cookie cups for putting your ice cream in! I wanted to try it, so I did try it. However, I failed miserably. Below is what happened…

  1. First, I put some cooking spray on an upside-down muffin/cupcake pan.
  2. Then I grabbed some cookie dough out of the container and into my hand.
  3. You have to shape it in a ball first, of course, I failed at this, so it doesn’t really matter for this tutorial…haha
  4. Flatten the dough out.
  5. See? All flat.
  6. Next I put the chocolate chip cookie dough on the upside-down pan cup. (I did two cookie cups.)
  7. I tried to form it in the cup shape like the end-result pictures I saw. This was a big mistake. My suggestion is to put less cookie dough on the pan than you think you’ll need, but remember, I DID NOT test this method. Remember, I failed…
  8. Oooops! They came out like this. Too much cookie dough and it ran down the sides WAY more than I expected. Trial and error, folks. That’s what happens sometimes.
  9. So we decided to crush up the chocolate chip cookie cups into chunks.
  10. Then, we put them in the blender.
  11. Then we added milk.
  12. Next, we took some neapolitan ice cream…
  13. & we put it in the blender, too.
  14. Add however much ice cream you like, but don’t overload your blender.
  15. Blended.
  16. Served.

What do you all think? I guess I should have followed an actual tutorial to do the cookie cups, but I thought they would be easy. Well, let’s just say the kitchen isn’t the room I spend much time in…

Hope you enjoy your chocolate chip cookie chunk neapolitan milk shakes! Below is a funny/cute/crazy video for your enjoyment:

MaceyLou
